question of the week

In honor of Tax Day.... today's question is:

You unexpectedly receive an additional tax rebate of $1000 in the mail. Let's pretend you are not able to save it and that it must be spent by the end of this weekend. What would you do with this unexpected money?

Vegas, Baby!
If anyone has been reading my blog it is not a secret that I'm itching to get to Vegas by the end of the summer. So I would definitely use the extra money to treat myself and Will to a Vegas weekend.

Since this is a fictional scenario, I will add other fictional details...while we're in Vegas we would hit it big on the roulette wheel or something and quadruple our money and then be able to purchase our tickets and visas for Australia, with a little extra money leftover. I'd use the extra money to buy really good tickets to LOVE.

If there was a check for $1000 waiting in my mailbox for me, I would do a little shopping! My first stop would be a home store where I would purchase two really comfy patio chairs, outdoor lighting, and materials to build a pergola over our patio. Next, I would hit a kids' store, probably Pottery Barn Kids, to pick out bedding and acessories for our future nursery. The next stop would be the toy store so Gracie and Luke could pick out a few new things. Finally, whatever was left would be spent on a date night with Ben- Thai food, a movie, and a browse around a book store.
I would have the money spent in no time at all! :)

I would finally get new countertops. I've been talking about it for years. Boring, I know, but we have enough "stuff" already. However, I do like Leslie's idea.

Wow...the possibilities are endless! Top on my list would be to take a guilt free vacation. We love to travel (who doesn't, I guess), but we can't always justify forking out the money for it. Whatever money was left would definitely be devoted to a shopping spree at the GAP,Borders, Pottery Barn Kids, and Ann Taylor Loft. IF there was money still left over (wishful thinking), I'd buy a whole bunch of restaraunt gift cards so that we could randomly treat ourselves to eating out!

Chad has a great idea! If I had $1000 come to me I would use it for our kitchen. We are remodeling right now, and $1000 could help out a great deal.

This is Ben
Here in Indy EVERYONE goes on spring break and I am feeling a litle left out. Even the deli counter at our grocery store closed down at 7 PM because "it was spring break!" If I had a grand to blow, I would find someone to watch the kids and hit a beach someway some how. I miss the ocean and could use some sun and some heat.
As much as I would love to have new countertops (I'm so with you on that one Chad) I think I would have to put it towards a family trip somewhere via air travel. Apparently, I am a BAD mother because Will has never been on a plane...I've tried to explain that it isn't all that much fun anymore. So, we'd have to pack all the boys on a plane and head for somewhere fun!

Can I change my answer? :)

I was scrapbooking and realized, once again, that a printer with the capability to print on a 12 x 12 piece of paper is at the top of my wish list. I've been wishing for this for years, but can't justify spending $400 on a printer. If I had $1000 out of the blue, I think I would finally give in and buy myself this treat- and use the rest on a more scaled-down version of my previous answer.

I love reading everyone's answers, by the way! :)

I'm a little late on this one! I would take a long weekend vacation someplace warm and interesting. Not beach necessarily just warm like AZ. I'm so ready for warm weather and to get some color to my see through pale skin :)
