ahhhh....spring
We spent the weekend in Decatur enjoying the arrival of beautiful weather.
Though we only spent two days in Decatur, it was completely packed with fun activities with friends and family. On Saturday, Mom, Erin, Gracie, Addison, and I headed for a day of shopping and going out to lunch in Tuscola. Ben, my Dad, and Luke went to the zoo and to Paul's Chili Parlor for lunch. The weather was absolutely perfect and we all had a wonderful day!
Our Saturday evening plans were the real reason for the trip- we loved getting to help Taylor celebrate his first birthday! He is such an adorable little guy!
Sunday was just a laid-back, nice day. Mom and Dad went overboard preparing our first cookout of the year- delicious! Erin, Chad, and Addison joined us, making the day even more fun. We ate yummy brownies for Erin's birthday, covered the sidewalk with chalk pictures, giggled and cuddled with Addison, and just sat outdoors in the sunshine.
We really enjoyed taking the kids to walk on the nature trail not far from my parent's house. Luke especially LOVED having the chance to just run without worrying about cars. There was a spot by a pond where we could stand and hear dozens of bullfrogs calling to one another- pretty neat for the kids to hear. There was a pretty bridge to cross that scared Gracie a bit. Her grip on my hand got tight as she realized she could see the water down below through the wooden planks of the bridge. By the end of the bridge, she had practically crawled up me and was in my arms.....maybe she has inherited a bit of her daddy's fear of heights?
Hope your weekend was as nice!
