Kate + Ben

Ben has been traveling every week lately and Kate has been missing him more than usual.

She is, unfortunately, pretty used to just Mom during the week and it usually is simply the way it is around here. Last week, though, she just kept complaining about him being away and being sad and irritated by his travel. I found out Friday night why- there was a Girl Scout Father/Daughter Dance on Friday night and lots of the girls at school were talking about it. It didn't matter to Kate that she isn't even in Girl Scouts so therefore was not even able to take her dad to this dance; she felt quite sorry for herself that she was not going with Ben. Hearing this when he returned on Saturday morning, he asked her to go on a date with him and suddenly all was right in the world again. She put on her current favorite dress and asked Gracie for help with her hair. She chose fancy earrings and asked permission to put on some make up.

Ben took her to brunch and then to the zoo. She got home hours later and was full of stories and smiles. A little one on one time seemed to do wonders.
