our week in pictures
With Ben out of town and Luke having Friday night plans of his own, these three joined me for a much-needed run to buy new shorts. All three have grown so much since last summer! Katie's dress should be an indication- it was down to her knees when last she wore it! :) They chose Old Navy for clothes and Sweet Tomatoes for dinner.
Gracie had a band concert this week. It was good, but loooong. One hour and fifteen minutes is a lot of seventh grade band. The very noisy two year old sitting by me was in complete agreement.
Our friends have chickens in their yard. We went over one afternoon to hang out and I was amazed at how tame and domesticated they were. The kids really enjoyed them. Drew so much so that he has refused to eat chicken in the week since we've been there.
The theme of Luke's Scout meeting was "bravery" and the leaders made their point by bringing in an improv guy. He lead the boys through an hour of improvisation exercises. He was an impressive leader and the kids had a great time.
One afternoon a neighbor knocked on our door to greet us with the sweetest welcome package. I was blown away- she's not even next door but is four houses down! Some people are so sweet.
Friday was a beautiful day. Ann, my co-teacher, and I decided to take advantage of a pretty spring morning and take our Friday morning kids for a walk around the neighborhood. It took about a half an hour to get them around two blocks, but we all enjoyed the outing.
As we search for pieces to make our home ours, Ben gets many pictures texted to him with the question "What do you think?" This was for the light fixture (which ended up coming home with me for our kitchen) and was one of a series of three. Following this visit to The White Rabbit, Grace, Kate, and I also visited three other antique stores I love. We had a great outing and found a few neat pieces I can't wait to use in our home.
While the girls and I were treasure hunting, Ben had the boys at the district chess tournament. Major dad points there as the tournament was from 9:15 to 2:15.
We can't get enough of beautiful spring weather and our new- to- us trampoline. Have I shared the story yet that we purchased this from a neighbor whose kids have outgrown it? We walked it from her house to ours, which was quite a task. It was a long three blocks!
Kate and I enjoyed a Sunday morning visit to the Botanical Garden. Her friend Cullen had a joint birthday party with his brother Teddy, who is a student of mine. We had a lovely morning visiting with preschool friends and parents. My students seemed pretty confused to see me outside of school. My sweet little Claire kept leaving her mom and dad to come find me and hug my leg. I really love my job.
No filter needed. It was a gorgeous St. Louis day.
My book club met this afternoon and we got to sit outside for a couple of hours catching up and enjoying the weather. (thanks for hosting, Lauren!)
