{root beer, giggles, and crunching leaves}
After eleven and a half straight days of work, Ben decided that maybe it was time to take an afternoon off. Gracie and Luke had Friday off from school due to conferences, so Ben surprised them by heading home around one that day. We hit Sonic for fun Happy Hour drinks, turned the music up loud in the van, and headed to walk around a nearby park to enjoy the mild November temperatures and the last of the changing leaves.
At one point Ben and I were walking next to one another on the trail with our Katie between us holding our hands. We were having fun making the leaves on the ground crunch when we walked on them. Gracie, Luke, and Drew were up ahead of us just a bit and we could hear them giggling about something. Right at the exact moment that I was thinking what a nice afternoon it was, Ben turned to me and said, "This is a pretty nice life we have, isn't it?"
I am so thankful for this little family of mine and for afternoons of root beer, giggles, and crunching leaves.
