{12 on the 12th- June 2013}
1. Gracie and I spent part of the morning planning her upcoming tenth birthday party. She is so excited to invite all of the girls from her class to a backyard movie night. It should be lots of fun.
2. This morning we all headed out to buy a kiddie pool to enjoy this afternoon. Getting the darn thing into the mini van was a challenge! As I drove home with it, I couldn't even see Gracie and Luke in the back seat because their poor heads were up under the pool. Good thing it was a very short drive.
3. Last week we only one day out of seven where we were not at the ball field. This week is much more manageable. We had the past two nights off and have tomorrow and Friday off too. Baseball and softball have been good experiences for us, but I may not be so sad to be done living at the park once they end for the season in a couple weeks.
4. I have been sewing a lot lately. I keep waiting to get faster at completing things. Because I had so many interruptions, it took me three hours to make katie a tiny little skirt. I did the math- if I spent about ten dollars on the fabric, elastic, and buttons and charged myself six dollars an hour for labor, her simple skirt was $28 to make. It was interesting to note that sewing a skirt, at least for me, is more expensive than buying a skirt.
5. Every single time I have looked at Luke for about two weeks now, he has been wiggling his front teeth. He can't wait to lose them, but they are being very stubborn. Each day we are sure will be the day they finally come out, but we are continuously wrong.
6. My family is obsessed with the commercial where the man wears his cats as boots. It was on one day at every break during a show On Demand and they got hooked. Ben looked it up on YouTube that night and they watched it another dozen times. Have you seen the one I'm describing? My children must recite this commercial daily. Katie now knows parts of it. Drew's version of it makes me laugh every. single. time.
7. It has been a fun week for mail. Don't you love when mail is not just bills and ads?
8. Ben and I have been trying to work on taking a night every other week to ourselves. It is harder for us to follow through with than I thought it would be. But while it means more work for the parent left at home alone for the night, the trade off of having a little time "off the clock" for the other parent makes it completely worth it.
9. A sundress, a ponytail, and a pair of flip flops is pretty much the go- to outfit for the Hedenberg girls lately. I love getting dressed in the summer time.
10. I am sitting with my laptop on the patio under an umbrella, sipping iced tea, while watching my kids giggle and play in water.
It's a hard job that I have.
(Seriously, thank you, Ben, for working so hard so I can enjoy days like this. I am more grateful than you could know.)
11. Drew has been a complete and total love bug lately. I am not sure what brought on all of these recent hugs and kisses and requests to sit on my lap and willingness to hold my hand, but I will gladly take this phase and savor every moment of it.
12. On the flip side of phases that come and go, Katie has fully embraced her understanding of the words "NO!" and "MINE!"
As always, if you feel like it, I'd love to hear twelve thoughts you are having today. Remember, the key is to not over think it, but to just to start to ramble. Feel free to play along on your own blog or as a comment to this post. I'd love to hear what your life looks like this month!
