{eight years}

Eight things I love about Luke at age eight:

1. Luke is just kind-hearted. He hates to have anyone upset and is quick to apologize.  He occasionally loses his temper with his siblings, but it is incredibly rare for him to be intentionally mean.

2. He is so smart. Crazy smart. His mind is always, always going.

3. He is funny. He can be very sarcastic. He loves a good pun just like his dad.

4. I love his smile. It is one of my favorite things in the world.

5. Luke is a love bug. He still likes to give us great bug hugs, smother Katie with kisses, or hold my hand. I hope this never changes.

6. He LOVES books. He will happily read for as long as he can. This makes me ridiculously happy.

7. Luke is passionate about his interests. He can start talking about something and keep talking and talking (and talking and talking...) until you tire of it and politely steer the conversation in another direction. While I will admit that it can be a bit overkill sometimes, I do love his passion and enthusiasm.

8. Luke is inquisitive. He loves a mental challenge. He wants to be taught new things. He will sit at a Sudoku puzzle or logic problem for an hour straight. He wants to know the meaning of any new words he hears. He questions every song lyric he hears on the radio. He questions everything. Thank God for google.

In a nutshell, I adore my Lukey and have just absolutely loved being his mama for the past eight years.

And now I am off to prep for a house full of eight year olds coming over tomorrow to celebrate. :)
