{waiting}
Some of you know that there are some big things happening this summer for us.....maybe. It is this "maybe" that I am having a hard time with right now.
Long story short, it is looking like Ben is going to be offered a promotion involving relocation to St. Louis. Moving back to the Midwest has been in the plans for the entire time we've lived in Knoxville, and St. Louis is my favorite city. The position is what Ben has been working towards his entire Trane career. We could not be happier about this possibility.
Ben's superiors have told him multiple times that the position is his with a July start date just as soon as it gets approved by the CEO. We have known this for a couple of weeks now and we are just waiting, waiting, waiting for the position to be approved. Each day that we wait, though, I start to get more fearful that there is some reason the position is not being approved... some budget cut or responsibility shift or employee transfer or something......and that this thing we want so badly will not end up happening.
In addition to the fears that I have gotten my hopes up for nothing, I am nervous about the timeline of the move should it end up happening. It would be ideal to get moved by the new school year so that the kids can feel less like "new kids" and begin the year with all of the other students. This poses a challenge because we can't buy in St. Louis until we've sold in Knoxville. Seeing as it is June and we aren't even on the market yet, I don't see closing on a new house by the beginning of August a strong possibility.
While we wait and wonder what this summer has in store for us, we've been trying to do everything we can ahead of time to make the transition as smooth and quick as it can be if it does end up happening. We've been prepping the house to put it on the market, meeting with realtors, and researching school districts and houses for sale in St. Louis. We have found a team of realtors here that we like and are in the process of getting paperwork completed so that if/when he is offered the position, we are immediately ready to put our house officially on the market.
At the same time, I am really trying to not obsess over all of this. I keep reminding myself to at least try to relax and just enjoy the summer with my family. If this really is our last little stretch of time in Tennessee, I want to enjoy the area and the friends we've made here just as much as I possibly can.
