{morning ritual}
Sometimes the days around here start earlier than I'd like, but this is what happens when kids go to bed at seven, as Drew is doing these days since giving up his afternoon nap.
This early morning time, however much I protest it as Drew wakes me up each day, is actually a pretty nice way to start my day. I can settle Drew on the couch with juice and a cartoon, get Katie set up in her seat with fruit and toast, and I have a quiet twenty minutes or so to drink my coffee and plan my day.
I love that time of day when everything is still possible. I make a list of everything I hope to accomplish throughout the day, pretending that I will get it all done even though I always make the list too long- things I'd like to get done around the house, things I'd like to do with the kids, errands that need to be run, meals on the menu, and calls and emails I need to make. At this time of day, before the kids have had a chance to argue about anything and the house is still clean from the night before, I feel ready to take on my day. It's a nice feeling.
