{Spring Break this & that}
* After lots of fun with my parents, the kids were ready for a little down time yesterday afternoon once their guests left. Katie took a really long nap and the older three kids played in the basement for hours. Even better.. last night was the easiest bedtime imaginable for a vacation night! All four kids were asleep by 7:30 with no protest at all, just worn out from a few days of fun.
* We met some friends at the park this morning and I got a taste of just how hot it is going to be this summer. It is March and we were dripping with sweat after an hour of play. My friend told me her first summer in Knoxville five years ago was the same way. She said that by May people were miserable and that it was a really long summer. Yay for HVAC sales.... boo for enjoying summer vacation.
* Gracie has her first Tennessee sleepover this evening. She is one excited gal! I have such happy memories of sleepovers with friends from when I was little, so I understand her excitement. I am a bit nervous about what kind of kid I will be getting back come tomorrow morning...hopefully not too grouchy of a girl. I'm hoping to do something fun for our last day off of school.
* I got a summons for Jury Duty in April. I think it would be interesting to be on a jury and observe the court system in progress, but with Katie and Drew being at home with me, it really would be difficult to have me on jury duty for up to two weeks. Fortunately, the paperwork mailed to me said that caregivers could be excused, so I called to ask about documentation I might need to provide. I learned that it is astonishingly easy to be excused from jury duty here in Knoxville. No paperwork, no proof, just a thirty second phone call and my name was removed.
* Ben was asked by one of his superiors if he would be interested in applying for a position in Atlanta. I can not pinpoint why exactly, but I am completely and 100% opposed to moving there. I am sure it is a nice town. I am sure some people love it there. I do not want to live there. Fortunately, Ben feels the same way, so we are on the same page about him declining the interview. You know how some places just fit you and some don't?
* I am sitting here at the dining room table blogging while the kids finish up some learning activities. Gracie is working on some logic problems and the boys are working together with some pattern blocks. I really think I would love homeschooling my kids. There is something so nice about sitting here together like this.
We are off to the library and Sonic Happy Hour for slushes before taking Gracie over to her sleepover. I love having the kids home like this. :)
Hope you are having a great week too!
