{Freddie the Fish}
As a reward for good behavior choices, our kids get to put a noodle into a small jar. Once the jar is full, the child gets to choose a fun activity to do. When Gracie filled hers, for example, she chose a special day of shopping and going out to lunch with me.
Drew's jar was full last week and for his special treat, he decided- somewhat out of the blue- that he would really like a pet. The kids have been asking for a dog for about a year, but I think adding a dog to the mix around here would just about put me over the edge. We compromised, and Drew decided he would like a fish of his very own, specifically a fish named Freddie. Saturday we visited an aquarium store in the area to get a Freddie, a little blue beta fish.
Drew is so funny with this little fish! He keeps talking to him as he walks by the aquarium in the living room. A couple of times, he has said to him, "You are such a sweet fish, Freddie! I love you!" It's not all sweet though; I have caught the little stinker trying to touch him or put something into the aquarium three times. I find myself checking to make sure Freddie is alive every time I glance that way.

ask your daddy about the pet fish max that we had when he was a young boy. if freddy is half as tough as max he will be one cool fish.
