I have been hard at work figuring out my schedule for this new stage of our family's life. Did you know a lot of decisions can be made quickly if you are motivated to make them?

Last week I opened a booth at my favorite local Craft & Antique Mall. I will admit that it feels a little scary. I signed a three month lease, though, so cross your fingers for me that some people will be interested in my handmade goodies and shabby treasures. At $100 a month, I am very nervous that I will not even break even. Ben keeps assuring me that risks are good for me and the worst case scenario for this risk is us being out $300. There are greater risks to be found in life for sure.

Last week I also became the head room mother for Gracie's class, the chair of the Craft Committee of the Fall Festival, a PTA Bake Sale helper, and the person responsible for the monthly decorating of the PTA bulletin board in the main hallway of the school. These things all sound like fun, actually, but the school does not allow Drew to accompany me for these volunteer opportunities, which makes the tasks more difficult to complete. The head room mother role is the one I am most nervous about as it entails almost weekly visits into her class.

Consequently, this week I am making visits to two area churches that have Mother's Day Out programs. If things seem good, I think little Andrew Henry will be spending three hours a week playing with peers while I spend a couple of hours up at the school. It will, hopefully, be good for both of us.

Also on the agenda this week is a meeting/interview with a high school babysitter for an occasional date with my hubby, a trial yoga and pilates class at a local gym, my second visit to the neighborhood book club, and my first meeting of an area MOMS group. Have I told you how much I hate new situations? It is not going to be a comfortable week for me.

So here's to change, to pushing out of your comfort zone, and to being open to new opportunities.
