It is "H" week at preschool and Luke was supposed to take in an item for Show and Tell beginning with the letter h. Our departure for school this afternoon was more hectic than usual for no good reason and in the scramble to get to school on time, we both forgot to grab his item of choice, a stuffed animal hippo.

We were about halfway to school when Luke surprised me with some words that I didn't know that he knew.

"Mama, unfortunately I forgot my hippo for school..............fortunately, I can use this hat."

It brought such a smile to my face to hear him trying out this new vocabulary.
