the dilema continues

After speaking twice to a customer service representative with the Pottery Barn Kids catalog and calling nine different stores around the United States, it is safe to say that I will not be purchasing this dog through Pottery Barn. Fido is one of last year's toys, I'm told, and he has been out of stores for months and months. Not sure exactly why he was in the most recent PBK catalog, though......

I had sadly given up when my sweet cousin Meaghan called to tell me she had located the item on eBay. I was surprised since I had just checked at about midnight last night, but so very excited. I came up to the computer, typed in the item number that she gave me, and saw the item available with a Buy It Now price of $80! $80! For a stuffed animal!

My immediate thought was absolutely no way, but I am sheepishly now admitting that I am considering it. I just hate the thought of Luke being disappointed on Christmas morning. But $80? For a stuffed animal? I just don't think I can bring myself to spend it.

Seriously...what are your thoughts on this? What would you do in our situation?

Call me...
Hahahaha! I was going to post "call Nini"! How well do I know my sister?

I can't stop checking your blog now! It's like reading a suspense novel...will she buy it? Won't she? I can't wait to hear the outcome! $80 is pretty pricey for a stuffed animal, as I just emailed you. But I'm like you-a softie when it comes to making kiddos happy. The look on Luke's face when he sees that Santa brought him EXACTLY what he wanted would be pretty priceless! Ok, I'm not helping matters at all. I'll just get back to my day job now. :)

I'd call Nini ;). His reaction on Christmas morning will be worth WAY more than $80 (though I certainly agree it's a lot for a stuffed animal...). Good luck, I hope it works out!

You're ALL right - I bought it!! I had already found it when I checked back on Leslie's blog. I couldn't bear to think how disappointed he'd be on Christmas and I know that Luke would accept no substitute.
The ebay seller loved the story about Luke taking the catalog to show Santa. You've got to love his faith in Santa.... Fido is on his way to Zionsville.

Oh I'm so glad you bought it! I just checked the ebay page again and it was no longer available! I was really hoping that it was purchased for Luke and not for another little boy or girl. Whew! Now maybe I can really get back to work. The suspense of all of this was quite distracting.

Yes Luke, there is a Santa ;). What a wonderful Christmas morning you are going to have!
Nini is a sucker for a cute kid...and btw, I totally would have bought it too. What's 80 bucks compared to a happy Luke right?

Oh, this will definitely be a fun story to share with Luke when he gets older! I'm predicting there'll be a future post of Luke opening Fido? I hope so!

This will probably be the first of many situations like this...we would hate it, but probably buy it:)

Nini is a soft touch, and it's only one of the reasons we love her.

Leslie, this reads like a thriller. I must see a picture of this mutt to find out why Luke is so obsessed. Please share.

Loved pictures of Drew, smiling and otherwise. I'm sure it must be Ben he takes after in the cranky one.
