Monday morning.....
Anyone else returning from vacation and having a little bit of trouble feeling motivated this Monday morning?
I was full of energy yesterday and got everything unloaded, unpacked, washed, and put away. We hit the grocery store last night and the fridge and pantry are once again stocked. The house is clean and the kids are playing together so nicely, but I'm just sitting here with my computer, my cup of tea, and the overwhelming feeling of "Now what?" I just feel like there is something I should be doing.
We spent the month of July on- the- go; there was always something planned or something I needed to be getting ready for. Now, short of putting together a nursery, the next three weeks of our lives are completely open and unplanned. We've got a sprinkling of cookouts, birthday parties, and doctor's appointments planned, but otherwise, the next big thing on our calendar is Gracie's first day of kindergarten on August 18. Quite a change from the past six weeks or so.
My first inclination is to get busy somehow. When I stop and think about it, though, I realize that the next three weeks will be the last time for quite a while that we'll have freedom like this. Once Gracie has kindergarten each afternoon and Luke has preschool on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons, our ability to go as we please will be much more limited. Not to mention getting readjusted to life with a newborn and the complete lack of a schedule that a baby brings into your life!
So this post was just my way of reminding myself to take it easy. To relax. To rest. To go with the flow. To enjoy life with two preschoolers without feeling like we need to have plans. To realize that two months from now I will look back at this time with envy and laugh at the thought of wishing I had less time on my hands.
Wish me luck.
