an announcement...
So...
the mere thought of coffee has me feeling green,
I seem to have gained a super-human sense of smell,
and I'm experiencing the thrills of "morning" sickness throughout the day and night,
but I am still smiling ear to ear. :)
Yep, we are expecting a new baby this September!
I am ten weeks along and my doctor says everything looks great. We weren't planning on going public with our announcement for a couple more weeks, but excited grandparents don't keep secrets very well!
Many of you know that we were hoping for a new baby in 2008. Ben and I were planning on a November or December baby, but were shocked to find out we'll have a September baby instead. Although the pregnancy took us by surprise and the timing isn't exactly ideal, we couldn't be happier.
Gracie has been really sweet about the news. When I told her last Thursday afternoon after my ultrasound, she just kept hugging me and smiling at me. (She has been saying a nightly prayer for a new baby for a while now.) Luke is happy, but struggling with the concept. Nine months is a LONG time when you are three. He wants to see and feel the baby already, and since he can't, he has lost interest in all talk of a new baby.
We will not be finding out the gender this time around, so we are in search of a nickname for this little one for the next nine months. Grace and Luke's names were decided pretty early in each pregnancy, so we just called them by their names. So far, Gracie just keeps saying "our new baby" in the sweetest little voice, so maybe we'll stick with that.
Life is so, so good. :)
