smiles

We've had many smiles this weekend during a lazy weekend at home. Ben is feeling better and I am trying to. Luckily, the kids really did seem to dodge our flu......whew!
A few of the things that had me laughing this weekend:
  • Ben was teasing Gracie yesterday morning and Luke stepped in to defend her. Luke told Ben, "She's my stuffed animal's mommy....leave her alone!"

  • Luke has been carrying around a flashlight all day. He has named it Flashy the Firefly and he says it is his new pet.

  • Ben spent the day retiling the kids' bathroom floor. It was previously carpeted and carpet in a three year old boy's bathroom is a really bad idea! Gracie was all about watching him and trying to be his assistant. I caught this picture and it just makes me smile- she's in her Illini cheerleading outfit and pink cowboy boots and is trying to help in any way she can. Ben was a really good sport about it- for the first hour. :) Once she stepped in the gray adhesive and got it on the hallway carpet, we quickly found her something else to do.
  • The kids are downstairs playing a very elaborate game in the playroom as I am typing. Gracie just told Luke she needed to cover him up with a magic rug while she makes his scrambled eggs and gummy worms or else the pirates will find him and tell him to "aboard the plank." They moved all six kitchen chairs and two benches into the playroom as part of their activity.
  • We took Gracie shopping to pick out a new dress to wear to Patti and Paul's anniversary party next weekend. She took the task very seriously, of course, and had a ball making her decision. She ended up picking a dress not exactly seasonally appropriate, so we'll have to layer a bit, but she was so excited about it, I did not want to try to sway her towards a warmer dress. She says she likes her dress because it will be good for dancing and because it has a heart on it, making it a "true love dress" for her Nini and Papa because they love each other.
Hope your weekend brought you many smiles as well!
