Petrified Forest National Park

 We wanted to check out Petrified Forest National Park during our stay in Sedona. It was two hours from our rental house, so we thought it would be a great afternoon outing (it was too hot to be outdoors all day and we had hiked all morning.) I wish I could say that this national park did not disappoint, but it was definitely not the most fun outing of the trip.

The highlight of the outing, though, was talking to two travelers from Spain who were nearing the end of cycling the entire length of Route 66. They had started in Chicago in April and were working towards ending in Los Angeles. The language barrier made conversation with them a little tricky, but we so enjoyed meeting them and kept talking about them on the drive home.
