family service project
As we closed down the event, the kids were thrilled to have met and exceeded our fundraising goal. We had hoped to be able to write a check to the Ollie Hinkle Heart Foundation for at least $200, so being able to donate $702 was quite exciting! The community was very generous at our sale; we didn't have as many shoppers as we would have liked, but those that did come were wonderful.
We then got to continue to spread the love by taking a car FULL of clothing donations to the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition for use in their REFRESH Boutique. The shop is open to the public to raise funds to benefit foster children and also offers special pricing on clothing to foster and adoptive families. It was the perfect place to take the donations we had that had not been sold during our event.
I hope this was just the first of many projects and volunteer opportunities we can take on as a family.
