1. Our house is dirty. Not cluttered. Not untidy. Dirty. The blame goes to a project in our foyer. When we purchased the house, there was a weird coat closet built in to our foyer. It was awkward and made the space small. My dad was great to take it out for us right away. By removing the closet, we gained space and openness.... and also holes in the slate tile floor. We've covered them with strategic placement of rugs and decor. Over break, Ben decided to jump in and tackle re tiling the area. I am so happy it is being done and will be thrilled a couple of weeks from now, but right now the dust from removing the old tile is everywhere. Every inch of our main floor needs dusted and vacuumed. I can't believe how much mess this project is making.
2. Basketball season is starting for the boys. They are both excited.
3. One more week until we have a puppy in the house. I am getting nervous.
4. My return to preschool this week was smooth but man, did this week drag. It was the longest school week I've had all year without doubt. Ben says his work week feels the same way. It's hard to get back in the swing of things after a lovely break.
5. I am not a joyful chef. I do not enjoy cooking but view it as a task that must be done. (You know the meme of the mom wearing an apron yelling, "Darn these kids! I just fed them yesterday and they think they need to eat again tonight?!?"? That's how I feel sometimes.) This week I made an effort to cook a substantial, healthy meal each night. (As opposed to say smoothies and hard boiled eggs for dinner.) It would be great if I now had some new-found love of cooking, but no. Still just a task for me. I did, however, learn that I love grilled cauliflower with olive oil and garlic. It was my first time making it and it was wonderful.
6. This is our last unbusy weekend for a bit. We have one friend birthday party to attend, but otherwise have no plans. I absolutely love weekends with no plans. They are my favorite.
