I heart Winter Break.
We (minus Ben, who is hard at work wrapping up the year) have barely left our home since returning from Illinois on Sunday afternoon. In fact, the kids never got out of their pajamas yesterday and didn't get dressed today until late afternoon. It's. been. wonderful.
Days like yesterday and today are such treats. The kids just play and play and play and play. Yesterday three sat together and played Legos for two hours. Today a different three played stuffies for most of the morning. They all sat together this afternoon and painted with new art supplies. All new Christmas games have been opened and played. They've been getting along eerily well. I am one happy momma.
Tonight we enjoyed a family date. Ben left work a little early and met us at the Galleria. We ate a delicious meal at Cheesecake Factory with generous Christmas gift cards. Drew's eyes practically rolled into the back of his head with pleasure as we all shared a huge piece of their yummy carrot cake. We visited Build A Bear so Katie could spend her Christmas fun money from Papa on a new bunny to be a sister to her beloved Binky Bunny. We stopped at the fountain to make wishes. We browsed through a couple of stores and enjoyed each other's company. Drew surprised and delighted me by grabbing my hand twice. Now that he is getting older, this doesn't happen as often as it used to. sniff. It was such a nice night and well worth the later bedtime the littlest amongst us had.
Big plans tomorrow during the day for a whole lot more pajama playtime. We are excited, however, to be headed out of town once Ben gets home from work to celebrate New Years with our best friends in Springfield. Drew said today, "I wish Winter Break could last so much longer than two weeks!" I completely agree.
