Despite feeling a little lost without my four year old sidekick (Drew is spending a couple of days in Decatur) and despite the fact that the activity of the afternoon around here seems to making as much noise as possible (Gracie, Luke, and Katie have formed a rock band. I feel sorry for the neighbors because our windows are open and my. kids. are. loud.  They are having a ball, though, so I am trying to be tolerant.), and despite the gray and dreary weather, I am in a great mood.

Some of the items topping my happy list over the past few days:

1. Gracie and Luke made my favorite muffins almost independently and they turned out really well. They had fun and I had a yummy breakfast- win win.  I sure loving having babies, but I'm discovering some of the perks of having older kids too.  :)

2. Looking into the family room and seeing scenes like this one, caught Friday morning:

3.  Cooler temperatures. Ben is always quick to remind me that our livelihood is based on HVAC sales and that I should not like stretches of summer days when the air conditioning is not needed..... but I can't help myself. It has been great to get some fresh air in the house over the past five days and to be outside without being miserable.

4. Trader Joe's. I love the food we get there. Their pizza dough, yogurt, granola, guacamole, sourdough bread, roasted garlic pasta sauce, pita chips, roasted corn, and spinach tortellini are all staples in our house. The prices are reasonable and the kids find it fun to shop there. If only the parking lot was not such a nightmare all of the time, it would be the perfect grocery store. We ran last night and I have a stocked kitchen of yummy foods.

5. Historical fiction. It took me about five books to realize it, but I seem to be on a historical fiction kick these days.

Happy Monday! Hope your week is starting out wonderfully!
