A certain Illini-loving, six foot six, BBQ eating, funny guy that I know has requested that I start back up the question-of- the- week thing that we used to do back in 2008. If you don't remember, I'll link back up to a few older ones here and here and here and here just for fun.

If you feel like playing along, I'll try to post a new question each week for a couple of months and you can just leave your answer as a comment.

This week's question is:

If you unexpectedly found out that you had tomorrow off of work  to do whatever you wanted, how would you spend your day? (For some of us, this means our children are being taken care of by someone else for the day.) Would you be productive or restful? Would you leave your house or stay in? Spend it with others or in solitude?

If I am imagining a day off, I am going to imagine that it begins with a morning off too- no children to wake me up and request breakfast. I would sleep until I felt like waking up, make a cup of coffee, and then just sit in the quiet to think in peace. After a long shower, I would dress in my comfiest clothes and spend the morning enjoying sewing or doing a craft while catching up on some of my favorite whose on our DVR.
For lunch, I would meet Ben on his lunch hour for a yummy salad and a raspberry margarita at Chevy's. He would decide to take the rest of the day off and we would spend the afternoon shopping around St. Louis and seeing a movie.
That evening we would get together with a group of friends (who are also miraculously kid-free for the evening) for food, drinks, and a game night.

I will write this without looking at your response first...... I would be totally unproductive. I'd start off with a big cup of coffee with my wife, then I would take a long hot shower. For the rest of the day I would, in no particular order, I would go see a movie (The Hobbit or Silver Linings Play book), go to the art museum, eat lunch/dinner at Bomparts BBQ in downtown St. Louis, have a couple drinks with lunch, get a massage, watch an Illini basketball game, drink a couple glasses of bourbon, take a nap, watch a basketball game on TV, be in bed by 11. That sounds like a good winters day for me. If it were summer, I would take the big kids (Grace Luke and Drew)out of school and take them to Six Flags.

Wow guys. My answer was so less detailed but you've put the pressure on. I would love to sleep in as late as I wanted to. I would not be productive even if I planned on being productive. My day would include a store where you need to be alone to shop, like Gordman's, or TJ Maxx, to properly browse the racks. Then I would go to a bookstore and get a cup of coffee and read as long as I wanted to in a comfy chair. I would love to go see a movie, and go out to lunch or dinner with my husband. I would also make sure I made no meals so that my kitchen would stay clean all day long. :)

Short Answer: I would be productive and get lots of last minute wedding projects wrapped up.

Can I have the house to myself? Having a retired husband means that I seldom have a day alone in the house - so that would be a wonder for me! I would get up early and watch the "Today" show - I leave too early to watch it anymore. I would be productive - I would clean closets, mop my floors and organize my life - with music blaring from my IPod and no FOX News all day long...I would take frequent Diet Coke breaks to read a book I've been dying to start. After the house was clean, I would take a long walk with Buck. I would have a long gab fest with my sister Sandi. I would eat salmon souffle (salmon smells bad!) and drink at least a half bottle of wine while watching old episodes of Ally McBeal staring Robert Downey Junior and the second season of "Downton Abbey" - because deer season lasts for the weekend - and I have one more day of solitude!!
