{a trip to Chinese}
Drew throws me so many one-liners each day that make me giggle, but without fail, they are forgotten by the end of the day. Ben gets home from work and I usually draw a blank and say something like, "Drew said the funniest thing this morning............what was it?"
His understanding -or lack of understanding sometimes- of the world at age almost-four makes this such a neat age to witness. He wants everything to have an explanation and he wants me to have that explanation. He also has complete know-it-all moments where he tries to convince me that whatever he is making up is the complete and total way that it is. It can be both funny and frustrating.
This morning on the way into Schnucks, he found a penny and told me it was a Chinese penny and that if you find a Chinese penny it means you get to take a trip to Chinese. As we were driving under a large tree on the way home, he told me, "I have never been in the jungle, but I think this is what it would feel like." As we were putting away the groceries, he observed that our new kitchen is "really kind of a different shape than our old kitchen" but that's OK because "really the whole new house is a different kind of house than our house in Knoxville. Maybe they make different kinds of houses in this place."
As completely exhausting as three year old boys can be, they can also be pretty darn cute. I love his mind and feel pretty lucky to get to spend each day with him watching his observations of the world.

The trait may come from the Ross side. The first thing I thought of was "what do they do in the snow?"
Or maybe it's what Patti is always telling me that she thinks Bridget is really my child... Sandi
