our new Daisy Scout

We are trying to limit our extracurricular activities these days in an effort to simplify life a bit more. If one of the kids is "kind of" interested in something, it is not being added to the already-full mix of life around here. Kate asked me no less than a dozen times in a one week period if she could join Daisy Scouts; I took this as a serious request and not just something she was "kind of" interested in joining. 

She had her first meeting last week and a whole-school Girl Scout bonfire on Friday night. Holy cow- the sweetness was too, too much. The smiles, the hugs, the songs, the holding hands.... too much. Katie still struggles with shyness, so we are pretty good with her getting to know this group of nineteen girls. 

When she came home from the first meeting talking about singing and arting together, I knew this was an activity perfectly suited for our Katie Bear.
