No nap for me.....

Drew and I might be playing a little game right now.

He was up for the day at 6:20 this morning and only had about a fifteen minute snooze on the way to church. By noon, he was so ready for a good, long nap. Ben suggested that I take the afternoon to relax while he had some special time with Gracie and Luke. I quickly, quickly agreed. :) I had dreams of a soak in the tub and a nap.

Ben and the kids left and I put Drew down for a nap. Ten minutes or so later, I crawled into my bed with a good book-a freshly made bed, a rainy day, fan blowing, quiet house.....perfect ingredients for a nap, right? I read for only about fifteen minutes before my eyes got heavy.

As soon as I dozed off, Drew began to cry. Once I realized that he wasn't going to soothe himself back to sleep, I got him and calmed him down. He fell back asleep in my arms. I put him down and waited about twenty minutes to make sure the nap was going to to take before attempting a nap again.

When I thought it was fine, I crawled back into my bed. Once again, as soon as I dozed off, he began to cry. I assumed that he was done napping, so I picked him up and we went down to the couch to nurse. He nursed for twenty minutes and fell back asleep! Little stinker!

I put him in his crib and he has now been asleep for thirty more minutes. I probably could try again for a much needed nap, but after two attempts, I give up for today.

What's funny is how often this happens. Frequently Drew goes to bed around nine. He is notorious for sleeping soundly until I crawl into my bed- no matter if it is ten, midnight, or two- and waking as soon as I fall asleep.

I really do think that if I had no desire to take a nap today, it would be one of those great napping days for Drew; he occasionally takes a two and a half hour afternoon nap. Oh well.

Not too much else to report with us. It's been a quiet weekend full of really normal stuff- a birthday party for Luke, yard work for Ben, meeting Meggie for lunch yesterday, errands, a playdate with Allie and Hollis on Friday, a couple of Redbox DVDs, laundry, grocery shopping....

Ben bought us an iPhone on Thursday and we've been having so much fun with it. It is, really, about the coolest little gadget I've ever seen. I was sitting in the parking lot of Luke's preschool on Friday checking my email while waiting for dismissal. Yesterday while at lunch, Ben pulled up a video on YouTube that Gracie was trying to describe to Meggie. Kel, you'll love this one- I can make a to-do list anytime I want. Without paper and a pen. :) I am still just learning all of the things this phone can do. I am in love.

So it is now 45 minutes after I last put Drew down and he hasn't even stirred. Do I go attempt a short nap???

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

ETA: Drew has now been asleep for two hours and ten minutes and still hasn't made a peep! I am kicking myself for not trying the nap one more time! :) I have really enjoyed having a nice, quiet house to myself, though.

Yep, you're right...I'm lovin' the paperless to do list! I have a to-do list on my computer desktop called a widget and it's the coolest thing. I can even color code it!
