daily life
The holidays are definitely over....Ben is back to work, I am back to babysitting, and our normal routines have begun once again. In the spirit of documenting and enjoying everyday life-
it is 11:15 and today I have already:
cooked oatmeal and sausage for breakfast
bathed, dressed, brushed, and lotioned three people
folded a load of laundry
unloaded the dishwasher
found a missing harmonica
fed Ana cereal and peaches
cleaned up dried paint from the floor, easel, and paint cups from last night's painting session
mopped up a milk spill
made hot cocoa
paid a $450 bill for Missouri personal property tax (don't get us started on that subject!)
read five childrens' books (we're on a polar animals kick this week)
cleaned out the silverware drawer after finding Cheerios smashed throughout the forks
taken out the trash and watched the kids get excited as the garbage truck turned our can upside down
clipped twenty fingernails
replied to two emails
opened a new Christmas toy for the kids
talked to Ben on the phone as he called to announce that he gets to go to the Illini game tonight (Dave called at the last minute with an extra ticket and Ben was thrilled!)
flipped through the newest Pottery Barn catalog that came in yesterday's mail
really enjoyed two cups of coffee :)
Nothing exciting, newsworthy, or out of the ordinary, but all part of my life as a stay-at-home mama to a four year old and a three year old. Sure, I sometimes wish my days were a bit more exciting, but I wouldn't change my life for anything.
Makes me think of a Mary Engelbreit coffee mug a teacher friend of mine used every day that said, "Life is just so daily."
On a much more serious note, Patti and Barb- I am thinking of you both often. Please know that we're sending lots of love your way from Indiana. Gracie prayed at breakfast this morning, "Dear God. We love Grandma Babe. I hope she is not sick anymore. I love you. Gracie."
